അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യകാല രചനകളിൽ മുഖ്യമായതും ചർച്ചാവിഷയമായതും The Luncheon on the Grass, 'Olympia' ഇവയായിരുന്നു.പിൽക്കാലത്ത് ഒട്ടേറെ ഇംപ്രഷനിസ്റ്റ് ചിത്രകാരന്മാരെ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രചനകൾ സ്വാധീനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1883 ഏപ്രിൽ 30നു മാനെ അന്തരിച്ചു.
