ഒരു വസ്തുവിന് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യാൻ ആവശ്യമായ ത്രിമാനസ്ഥലം. ഖരം, ദ്രാവകം, വാതകം, പ്ലാസ്മ തുടങ്ങിയ ദ്രവ്യത്തിന്റെ ഏതവസ്ഥയ്ക്കും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യാൻ സ്ഥലം ആവശ്യമാണ്. ഈ ത്രിമാനസ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ അളവാണ് വ്യാപ്തം.
