ഷെം (Hebrew: שם, Modern Shem Tiberian Šēm ; Greek: Σημ Sēm; Arabic: سام) ഹീബ്രു ബൈബിളിൽ നോഹയുടെ മക്കളിൽ ഒരാൾ ആയിരുന്നു. സെമിറ്റിൿ (Semitic) എന്ന വംശ പേരു ഷെമിൽ നിന്നാണു ഉണ്ടായത്. ഉൽപ്പത്തിപ്പുസ്തകം (Genesis) 11:10 അനുസരിച്ച് പ്രളയം ഉണ്ടായ വർഷം ഷെമിനു 99 വയസ്സു ആയിരുന്നു. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിനു അഞ്ചു ആൺ മക്കൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു (Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram). ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അർപാക്ഷാഡിന്റെ (Arpachshad) സന്തതി പരമ്പരകളിൽ പെട്ട അബ്രഹാം ഹീബ്രുകളുടെയും, അറബികളുടെയും പിതാ മഹൻ ആണ്. ഷെമിന്റെ അഞ്ചു മക്കളാണ് ഏലം, അസ്സീറിയ, അഷുർ, ലുദ്, അരാം എന്നീ ജനതകളുടെ പിതാമഹർ എന്നു് ഒന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ചരിത്രകാരൻ ഫ്ലാവിയസ് ജോസഫസ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഇസ്ലാമിക വിശ്വാസങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ച് ഷെം നൂഹ് നബിയുടെ വിശ്വാസികളായ മക്കളിൽ ഒരാളാണ്, നൂഹ് നബിക്ക് ശേഷം പ്രവാചക സ്ഥാനം ലഭിച്ച ആളായിട്ട് ഷെമ്മിനെ കണക്കാക്കുന്നു.[2]
