സ്പെഷ്യാലിറ്റി	Pathology

ശരീരഘടനാശാസ്ത്രപ്രകാരം പോളിപ് എന്നത് ശ്ലേഷ്മപടലത്തിലെ കോശങ്ങളുടെ അസാധാരണമായ വളർച്ചയാണ്. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: Polyp തണ്ടുപോലുള്ള നീണ്ട ഭാഗം ഇവയെ ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു നിർത്തുന്നു. സാധാരണയായി വൻകുടൽ, ആമാശയം, മൂക്ക്, ചെവി, സൈനസുകൾ, മൂത്രസഞ്ചി, ഗർഭപാത്രം എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലാണ് ഇവ കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്. മൂക്കസ് ചർമ്മങ്ങളുള്ള ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ഏതുഭാഗത്തും. ഉദാ: യോനീഗളം, സ്വരനാളി, ചെറുകുടൽ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ഇവ വളരാം. ചില പോളിപ്പുകൾ അർബുദകരവും ചിലത് സൗമ്യവും ആണ്.
