ഇറാഖ് സൈന്യത്തെ പിന്തുണക്കുന്ന ജനകീയ സായുധ സംഘമാണ് അൽ-ഹശ്ദ് അൽ-ശഅ്ബി (അറബി: الحشد الشعبي‎). ഏതാണ്ട് 40 മിലീഷ്യകളുടെ ഏകോപനസംഘമായ ഇവർ ദേശീയ മുന്നേറ്റ സേന (الحشد الوَطنيّ അൽ-ഹശ്ദ് അൽ-വട്ടാനി) എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു ^{[അവലംബം ആവശ്യമാണ്]}. പ്രധാനമായും ഷിയ മിലീഷ്യകളെ ഏകോപിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഈ സംഘത്തിന്റെ കൂടെ സുന്നി, ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ, യസീദി മിലീഷ്യ സംഘങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.^[5] ഇസ്ലാമിക്ക് സ്റ്റേറ്റിനെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനാണ് ഈ സംഘം രൂപീകൃതമായത്.
