കുരുമുളക് അടങ്ങുന്ന സസ്യകുടുംബമാണ് പിപ്പരേസീ (Piperaceae). 13 ജനുസുകളിലായി 3600 -ഓളം സ്പീഷീസുകൾ ഉള്ള ഇതിലെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം അംഗങ്ങളും പിപ്പെർ (2000 സ്പീഷിസുകൾ) പെപ്പരോമിയ (1600 സ്പീഷിസുകൾ) എന്നീ രണ്ടു ജനുസുകളിലാണുള്ളത്.[2] മധ്യരേഖാപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കണ്ടുവരുന്ന ഈ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ചെടി കുരുമുളക് ആണ്.
നിരുക്തി[തിരുത്തുക]
പിപ്പരേസി എന്ന ശബ്ദം സംസ്കൃതത്തിലെ പിപ്പലി (സംസ്കൃതം: पिप्पली) എന്ന പദത്തിലേക്കാണ് ചേർക്കുന്നത്, തിപ്പലിക്കാണ് Piper longum സംസ്കൃതത്തിൽ പിപ്പലി എന്ന പദം അധികം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്.
വർഗ്ഗീകരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
2009ലെ APG III system അനുസരിച്ച് ഈ കുടുംബത്തെ മാഗ്നോലിഡ്സ് എന്ന ക്ലാഡിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട പെപെരാലെസ് എന്ന നിരയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. .[1] ഈ കുടുംബത്തിൽ 5 ജീനസുകൾ അണുള്ളത്. : പിപ്പർ, പിപ്പരോമിയ, സിപ്പേലിയ, മനേക്കിയ, and വെർഹുവെലിയ.[3] ഒരു ഏകദേശ പട്ടിക (2007ലെ Wanke et al പ്രകാരം.[4] താഴെ കൊടുക്കുന്നു. അടുത്ത കാലത്ത് മാത്രമേ വെർഹുവെലിയ മറ്റുള്ളവക്ക് സഹോദരിയാണെന്ന് സമ്മതമായുള്ളൂ.
