പുരുഷന്മാരിലെ മലദ്വാരത്തിനും വൃഷണസഞ്ചിയ്ക്കും ഇടയിലോ സ്ത്രീകളിലെ മലദ്വാരത്തിനും വുൾവയ്ക്കും ഇടയിലുള്ള ഇടമാണ് മനുഷ്യരിലെ പെരിനിയം . [2] പ്യൂബിക് സിംഫൈസിനും (പ്യൂബിക് ആർച്ച്) കോക്സിക്സിനും (വാൽ അസ്ഥി) ഇടയിലുള്ള ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ് പെരിനിയം, പെരിനിയൽ ബോഡിയും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ഘടനകളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. അതിരുകൾ എങ്ങനെ നിർവചിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നതിൽ ചില വ്യത്യാസങ്ങളുണ്ട്.
