പട്രീഷ്യ ലീ ജെൻകിൻസ് (ജനനം: ജൂലൈ 24, 1971) ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ചലച്ചിത്ര സംവിധായികയും നിർമ്മാതാവും തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തുമാണ്. മോൺസ്റ്റർ (2003), വണ്ടർ വുമൺ (2017), വണ്ടർ വുമൺ 1984 (2020) എന്നീ ഫീച്ചർ സിനിമകൾ അവർ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദി കില്ലിംഗ് എന്ന പരമ്പരയുടെ പൈലറ്റ് എപ്പിസോഡിലെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന്, ഒരു നാടകീയ പരമ്പരയിലെ മികച്ച സംവിധാനത്തിനുള്ള പ്രൈംടൈം എമ്മി അവാർഡ് നോമിനേഷൻ ലഭിക്കുകയും നാടക പരമ്പരയിലെ മികച്ച സംവിധാനത്തിനുള്ള ഡയറക്ടേർസ് ഗിൽഡ് ഓഫ് അമേരിക്ക അവാർഡ് നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു. 2017 ൽ, ടൈംസ് പേഴ്സൺ ഓഫ് ദി ഇയറിലെ ആറാം സ്ഥാനം അവർ നേടി.
ആദ്യകാലം[തിരുത്തുക]
കാലിഫോർണിയയിലെ വിക്ടർവില്ലെയിൽ[1] വിയറ്റ്നാം യുദ്ധത്തിൽ സിൽവർ സ്റ്റാർ നേടിയ എയർഫോഴ്സ് ക്യാപ്റ്റനും ഫൈറ്റർ പൈലറ്റുമായ വില്യം ടി. ജെൻകിൻസിൻറേയും സാൻ ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോയിൽ പരിസ്ഥിതി ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞയായി ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന എമിലി റോത്തിൻറേയും മകളായി പട്രീഷ്യ ലീ ജെൻകിൻസ് ജനിച്ചു.[2] എലൈൻ റോത്ത് എന്ന ഒരു മൂത്ത സഹോദരികൂടി അവർക്കുണ്ട്.[3]
പിതാവിന്റെ സൈനികസേവനം കാരണം കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് പട്രീഷ്യ ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലായി മാറിത്താമസിക്കുന്നതിനിടയാക്കി. തായ്‌ലൻഡിലും ജർമ്മനിയിലും ഹ്രസ്വമായി താമസിച്ച ഈ കുടുംബം കൻസസിലെ ലോറൻസിൽ സ്ഥിരതാമസമാക്കി. പട്രീഷ്യയുടെ ഏഴാമത്തെ വയസ്സിൽ, പിതാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ 31 ആം വയസ്സിൽ ഒരു നാറ്റോ മോക്ക് ഡോഗ്ഫൈറ്റ് പോരാട്ടത്തിനിടെ മരിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് മാതാവ് അവളെയും സഹോദരിയെയും സാൻ ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയും അങ്ങനെ ജെൻകിൻസ് ഒരു പരിസ്ഥിതി ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞയാകുകയെന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ പോയി. അവിടെ 2017 ൽ ക്രിസ്റ്റഫർ റീവ് അഭിനയിച്ച സൂപ്പർമാൻ എന്ന സിനിമ കാണുവാനിടയായത് സിനിമയെ ഒരു കരിയറായി പിന്തുടരാൻ തന്നെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചതായി ജെങ്കിൻസ് പറഞ്ഞു.[4]
ലോറൻസ് നഗരത്തിലെ താമസത്തിനിടെ അവർ ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ ജൂനിയർ വർഷത്തിൽ കിന്റർഗാർട്ടൻ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. മാതാവ് പിന്നീട് കുടുംബത്തെ വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ ഡി.സി.യിലേക്ക് മാറ്റിപ്പാർപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവിടെ പട്രീഷ്യ തൻറെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ സീനിയർ വർഷം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.[5] 1993 -ൽ ദി കൂപ്പർ യൂണിയൻ ഫോർ ദി അഡ്വാൻസ്മെന്റ് ഓഫ് സയൻസ് ആന്റ് ആർട്ടിൽനിന്ന് അണ്ടർഗ്രാജുവേറ്റ് ബിരുദവും[6] 2000 ൽ അമേരിക്കൻ ഫിലിം ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിന്റെ എഎഫ്ഐ കൺസർവേറ്ററിയിൽ നിന്ന് സംവിധാനത്തിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും നേടി.[7]

2007 ൽ, മുൻ അഗ്നിശമന സേനാംഗവും എ ഫൈറ്റേഴ്സ് ഹാർട്ട് എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ രചയിതാവുമായ സാം ഷെറിഡനെ ജെൻകിൻസ് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.[8] കാലിഫോർണിയയിലെ സാന്താ മോണിക്കയിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന അവർക്ക് ഒരു മകനുണ്ട്.[9][10]
