മികവിനെ അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നതിനും ബയോ സയൻസ് വിഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ ഗവേഷണം പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുമുള്ള ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ സയൻസ് അവാർഡാണ് കരിയർ ഡവലപ്മെന്റിനായുള്ള ദേശീയ ബയോ സയൻസ് അവാർഡ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ എൻ-ബയോസ് പ്രൈസ്.[1] ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ ബയോടെക്നോളജി വകുപ്പ് 1999 ൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ഇത് 45 വയസ്സിന് താഴെയുള്ള ഇന്ത്യൻ ബയോ-ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനാണ്.[2] പ്രശസ്ത ജേണലുകളിലോ പേറ്റന്റുകളിലോ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന രൂപത്തിൽ പ്രകടമാക്കിയ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിലൂടെ ജൈവശാസ്ത്ര ശാസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനവും പ്രായോഗികവുമായ മേഖലകളിൽ കലയുടെ വികാസത്തിന് നൽകിയ അതുല്യ സംഭാവനകൾക്കാണ് വർഷം തോറും അവാർഡ് നൽകുന്നത്.[3] ഔയോഗിക ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അവസാന 5 വർഷങ്ങളിൽ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ നടത്തിയ ഗവേഷണ വികസന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ അവാർഡ് അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു. അവാർഡിന് ഒരു അവലംബം, ഫലകം, രണ്ടുലക്ഷം രൂപ ഗവേഷണ സഹായ ഗ്രാന്റും, മൂന്നുവർഷത്തേക്ക് തുല്യ ഗഡുക്കളായി ഒന്നരലക്ഷം രൂപയും പ്രതിവർഷം വിതരണം ചെയ്യുന്നു.[4][5] കൗൺസിൽ ഓഫ് സയന്റിഫിക് ആൻഡ് ഇൻഡസ്ട്രിയൽ റിസർച്ച് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ നൽകുന്ന ശാന്തി സ്വരൂപ് ഭട്നഗർ സമ്മാനത്തിന് അടുത്തായി ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന ഇന്ത്യൻ ബയോളജി അവാർഡുകളിലൊന്നാണ് ഈ അവാർഡ്.[6]
