പൊന്തക്കാടുകളിലും, മരച്ചില്ലകളിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരിനം പക്ഷിയാണ് തെക്കൻ ചിലുചിലുപ്പൻ^[2] ^[3]^[4]^[5] (Ashambu laughingthrush)-Montecincla meridionale. ഇവ പുല്ല്.ഇലകൾ,നേർത്ത വേരുകൾ,ചെറിയ വള്ളിത്തുണ്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ട് കൂടുകൾ നിർമ്മിയ്ക്കും. അച്ചൻകോവിൽ ചുരത്തിനു തെക്കുള്ള ചിലുചിലപ്പൻ പക്ഷികളെയാണ് 'തെക്കൻ' എന്ന പേർ ചേർത്തുവിളിയ്ക്കുന്നത്.പ്രജനനകാലം പ്രധാനമായും മഴക്കാലമാണ്.

നിറം

നരച്ച തവിട്ടുനിറത്തിൽ ഉപരിഭാഗങ്ങൾ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. വെള്ളപ്പുരികവും,കറുത്ത കൺപട്ടയും ചെറുതാണ്. അടി വശത്തുള്ള ചാരനിറം ഗുദം വരെ നീണ്ടുകിടക്കുന്നു.കാവി വർണ്ണം വയറിന്റെ ഇരുവശത്തും കാണാം.^[6]
