ഏഷ്യയിലും ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലും കണ്ടുവരുന്ന പരാദ കുറ്റിച്ചെടികളുടെ ഒരു ജനുസ്സാണ് ഡെൻഡ്രോഫ്തോ.[1] ജർമ്മൻ പ്രകൃതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ കാൾ ഫ്രെഡ്രിക്ക് ഫിലിപ്പ് വോൺ മാർട്ടിയസ് ആണ് 1830-ൽ ഈ ജനുസ്സിനെ വിവരിച്ചത് ഈ ജനുസ്സിലെ സ്പീഷിസുകൾക്ക് അതത് പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്ര പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങളിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നേപ്പാളിൽ, വിവിധ ഉപയോഗങ്ങൾ റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. [2] ഇത് പൊട്ടുവെള്ളാംബരി ചിത്രശലഭത്തിൻ്റെ ലാർവ ഭക്ഷണ സസ്യമാണ്.[3]
