കാലിന്റെ നീളം അസമമായി ജനിച്ച ഡി ഗ്രൂട്ട് ഏഴാമത്തെ വയസ്സിൽ വീൽചെയർ ടെന്നീസ് ജീവിതം ആരംഭിച്ചു.[1]ജൂനിയർ കളിക്കാരിയായി 2009-ൽ ഐടിഎഫ് വീൽചെയർ ടെന്നീസ് ടൂറിൽ കളിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.[2]2013-ൽ ഡി ഗ്രൂട്ട് ഐടിഎഫിനൊപ്പമുള്ളപ്പോൾ സിംഗിൾസ്, ഡബിൾസ് മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ ക്രൈഫ് ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ ജൂനിയർ മാസ്റ്റേഴ്സ് നേടി. അടുത്ത വർഷം ഡബിൾസിൽ 2014-ലെ ജൂനിയർ മാസ്റ്റേഴ്സ് നേടി.[3]
