വയനാടിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഘട്ടത്തിലെ ചോലവനത്തിൽ നിന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തിയ വള്ളിപ്പാല വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന പുതിയ ഇനം സസ്യമാണ് ടൈലോഫോറ ബാലകൃഷ്ണാനി. അഞ്ച് വർഷത്തെ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിനും പഠനത്തിനും ശേഷമാണ് സസ്യം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. [1] ഡോ. വി. ബാലകൃഷ്ണന്റെ പേരിലാണ് ഈ സസ്യം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. [2]തടാകങ്ങളുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ടൈലോഫോറ ഫ്ലെക്സുവോസയുമായി സാമ്യമുള്ളതാണ് 'ടൈലോഫോറ ബാലകൃഷ്ണാനി'. ഇതിന് പിങ്ക്, ചുവപ്പ് പൂക്കൾ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.[3]
