ദേശീയ വനിതാ വിഭാഗത്തെ നയിച്ചിരുന്ന ന്യൂസിലാന്റിലെ ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രീഷ്യനും ഗൈനക്കോളജിസ്റ്റുമായിരുന്നു ജോർജ് ഹെർബർട്ട് ഗ്രീൻ (16 നവംബർ 1916–4 മാർച്ച് 2001), B.A., BSc, M.B., Ch.B., (D.Obs. R.C.O.G.), M.R.C.O.G.(Lond.). ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ സെർവിക്കൽ കാൻസർ യൂണിറ്റ് പ്രൊഫസറായി 1960-കളിലും 1970-കളിലും നയിച്ചു. കാർട്ട്‌റൈറ്റ് അന്വേഷണത്തിന് വിധേയമായ ഒരു അനീതിപരമായ പരീക്ഷണം നടത്തി കുപ്രസിദ്ധി നേടി.

ജീവചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]

ന്യൂസിലാന്റിലെ ബാൽക്ലൂത്തയിലെ ഗ്രാമീണ സൗത്ത് ഒട്ടാഗോ പട്ടണത്തിലാണ് ഗ്രീൻ ജനിച്ചത്. അദ്ദേഹം സൗത്ത് ഒട്ടാഗോ ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ ചേർന്നു. അവിടെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വിടുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി പേപ്പറുകൾ പഠിച്ചു.[1] തന്റെ അദ്ധ്യാപകരിൽ ഒരാൾ സെർവിക്കൽ കാൻസർ ബാധിച്ച് മരിച്ചുവെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പിന്നീട് പറഞ്ഞു. ഇത് രോഗത്തോടുള്ള തന്റെ ആജീവനാന്ത താൽപ്പര്യത്തിന് കാരണമായി.[2]
