ഒരു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പ്രകൃതിശാസ്ത്രകാരനായിരുന്നു ജോർജ് റോബർട്ട് വാട്ടർഹൗസ് (George Robert Waterhouse). (6 മാർച്ച് 1810 – 21 ജനുവരി1888).
തന്റെ കൂടെ ബീഗിളിൽ യാത്ര ചെയ്യാൻ ഡാർവിൻ ക്ഷണിച്ചെങ്കിലും വാട്ടർഹൗസ് അതു നിരസിച്ചു. തിരിച്ചെത്തിയ ഡാർവിൻ തന്റെ പ്രാണികളുടെയുയ്ം സതനികളുടെയും ശേഖരം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.rബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മ്യൂസിയത്തിലെ അദ്ദേഹം ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.[1]
