ഒരു കോവിഡ് -19 വാക്സിനാണ് ജോൺസൺ & ജോൺസൺ കോവിഡ് -19 വാക്സിൻ. [14] ഇത് വികസിപ്പിച്ചെടുത്തത് നെതർലാൻഡിലെ ലൈഡനിലെ ജാൻസെൻ വാക്സിൻസും [15] ബെൽജിയൻ പാരന്റ് കമ്പനിയായ ജാൻസെൻ ഫാർമസ്യൂട്ടിക്കൽസും, [16] അമേരിക്കൻ കമ്പനിയായ ജോൺസൺ & ജോൺസന്റെയും അനുബന്ധ സ്ഥാപനവുമാണ്.[17][18]

COVID-19 ന് കാരണമാകുന്ന SARS-CoV-2 വൈറസിന്റെ സ്പൈക്ക് പ്രോട്ടീൻ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ജീൻ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിൽ പരിഷ്കരിച്ച മനുഷ്യ അഡിനോവൈറസിനെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ള ഒരു വൈറൽ വെക്റ്റർ വാക്സിനാണിത്.[3]ശരീരത്തിന്റെ രോഗപ്രതിരോധവ്യവസ്ഥ ആന്റിബോഡികൾ ഉൽ‌പാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഈ സ്പൈക്ക് പ്രോട്ടീനോട് പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നു.[19]വാക്സിൻ ഒരു ഡോസ് മാത്രമേ ആവശ്യമുള്ളൂ. അത് ഫ്രീസുചെയ്ത് സൂക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.[20][21]

വാക്‌സിനുള്ള ക്ലിനിക്കൽ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ 2020 ജൂണിൽ ആരംഭിച്ചു. മൂന്നാം ഘട്ട പരീക്ഷണങ്ങളിൽ 43,000 പേർ പങ്കെടുത്തു.[7]വാക്സിനേഷൻ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി 28 ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം വാക്സിനേഷൻ ഒരു ഡോസ് വ്യവസ്ഥയിൽ 66% ഫലപ്രദമാണെന്നും രോഗലക്ഷണമായ COVID-19 തടയുന്നതിൽ 85% ഫലപ്രാപ്തിയും കടുത്ത COVID-19 തടയുന്നതിൽ 85% ഫലപ്രാപ്തിയും [22][23][24]ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിനോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ രോഗം മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന മരണത്തെയോ തടയുന്നതിൽ 100% ഫലപ്രാപ്തിയും ഉണ്ടെന്ന് 2021 ജനുവരി 29 ന് ജാൻസെൻ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.[1]

വാക്സിന് യുഎസ് ഫുഡ് ആൻഡ് ഡ്രഗ് അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേഷൻ [8][25] അടിയന്തിര ഉപയോഗ അംഗീകാരവും യൂറോപ്യൻ മെഡിസിൻസ് ഏജൻസി (ഇഎംഎ) യുടെ സോപാധികമായ മാർക്കറ്റിംഗ് അംഗീകാരവും നൽകി.[6][26][27]

പതിനെട്ട് വയസും അതിൽ കൂടുതലുമുള്ള ആളുകളിൽ COVID-19 തടയുന്നതിനായി SARS-CoV-2 വൈറസ് അണുബാധയിൽ നിന്ന് സംരക്ഷണം നൽകാൻ ജോൺസൺ & ജോൺസൺ COVID ‑ 19 വാക്സിൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.[1][6]

സ്പുട്‌നിക് വി കോവിഡ് -19 വാക്‌സിനും ഓക്‌സ്‌ഫോർഡ്-അസ്ട്രാസെനെക്ക കോവിഡ് -19 വാക്‌സിനും സമാനമായ സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണ് വാക്‌സിൻ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.[28]ഹ്യൂമൻ അഡെനോവൈറസ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ ഇത് സ്പുട്നിക് വി യോട് കൂടുതൽ സാമ്യമുള്ളതാണ്. പക്ഷേ ആദ്യത്തെ ക്ലിനിക്കൽ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ച് ഫലപ്രാപ്തി കുറവാണ്. സിവിയർ അക്യൂട്ട് റെസ്പിറേറ്ററി സിൻഡ്രോം കൊറോണ വൈറസ് 2 (SARS-CoV-2) സ്പൈക്ക് (എസ്) പ്രോട്ടീൻ സ്ഥിരതയാർന്ന അനുരൂപത്തിൽ പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന റെപ്ലിക്കേഷൻ-ഇൻകോംപീറ്റെന്റ് റീകോമ്പിനന്റ് അഡെനോവൈറസ് ടൈപ്പ് 26 (Ad26) വെക്റ്റർ ജോൺസൺ & ജോൺസൺ COVID-19 വാക്സിനിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
