ഭിഷ്വഗരൻ ആയതോടെ പ്രാണികളെ കീറിമുറിക്കുന്നതിൽ അദ്ദേഹം തല്പരനായി.1669-ൽ അദ്ദേഹം Historia insectorum generalis ofte Algemeene verhandeling van de bloedeloose dierkens (The General History of Insects, or General Treatise on little Bloodless Animals) പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു.
