എരിയക്കോളോൺ (Eriocaulon) ജനുസിലുള്ള സസ്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം തന്നെ മലയാളത്തിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പേരാണ് ചൂത്. കേവലം കാഴ്ച്ചയിലൂടെ മാത്രം തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ കഴിയാത്തതിനാലാവാം മിക്കവയെയും ചൂത് എന്ന പേരിൽത്തന്നെ വിളിക്കുന്നത്. 400 -ലേറെ സ്പീഷിസുകൾ ഇതിലുണ്ട്. ഏഷ്യയിലെയും അമേരിക്കയിലെയും മധ്യരേഖാപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലാണ് പൊതുവേ കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്.
