ഗമ്പേല ദേശീയോദ്യാനം എത്യോപ്യയിലെ ദേശീയോദ്യാനങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതാണ്. തെക്കൻ സുഡാൻ അതിർത്തിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം 5,061 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററിൽ (1,954 ചതുരശ്ര മൈൽ) പ്രദേശം ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നതാണ്.[1] ഇത് രാജ്യത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ദേശീയോദ്യാനമാണ്.[2] ആഡിസ് അബാബയിൽ നിന്നും നൂറുകണക്കിനു കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം 1974 ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം അതിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും ഫലപ്രദമായി തോതിൽ സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല.[3][4]

എത്യോപ്യയിൽ വന്യജീവികളുടെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന സാന്ദ്രതയുള്ള പ്രദേശമാണ് ഗമ്പേല ദേശീയോദ്യാനം.[5]
