കേരളത്തിൽ മാത്രം കാണുന്ന ശുദ്ധജല മത്സ്യം ആണ് കൊയ്ത്ത. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ അണക്കെട്ടിനു മീതെയുള്ള മുല്ലയാറിലും പെരിയാറിലും മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
