റോയൽ ആസ്ട്രോനമിക്കൽ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ സ്വർണമെഡൽ നേടിയ ആദ്യവനിതയാണ് കാരൊളൈൻ ഹെർഷൽ (1828).1835-ൽ അവരെയും മേരി സമർവില്ലിനും റോയൽ ആസ്ട്രോനമിക്കൽ സൊഅസൈറ്റി വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നൽകി ആദരിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.1838-ൽ റോയൽ ഐറിഷ് അക്കാദമിയും വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നൽകി അവരെ ആദരിച്ചു.
