ടർഡിഡേ (Turdidae) കുടുംബത്തിലെ സൂതെറ (Zoothera) എന്ന ജനുസ്സിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന പക്ഷികളാണ് ഏഷ്യൻ ത്രഷുകൾ (ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: Asian thrushes). ഇവ ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ളവയും പ്രധാനമായും പ്രാണികളെയോ സസ്യങ്ങളെയോ ഭക്ഷണമാക്കുന്നവയുമാണ്.
വർഗ്ഗീകരണം
[തിരുത്തുക]1832-ൽ അയർലണ്ടുകാരനായ സുവോളജിസ്റ്റ് നിക്കോളാസ് വിഗോഴ്സ് ആണ് സൂതെറ (Zoothera) എന്ന ജനുസ്സ് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. ഇതിലെ ടൈപ്പ് സ്പീഷിസ് (Type species) ലോംഗ്-ബിൽഡ് ത്രഷ് (Zoothera monticola) ആണ്. "മൃഗം" എന്നർത്ഥമുള്ള 'സൂൺ' (zōon), "വേട്ടക്കാരൻ" എന്നർത്ഥമുള്ള 'തെറ' (-thēra) എന്നീ പുരാതന ഗ്രീക്ക് പദങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഈ പേര് ഉണ്ടായത്.
മുമ്പ് ഈ ജനുസ്സിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്ന പല പക്ഷികളെയും പിന്നീട് മറ്റ് ജനുസ്സുകളിലേക്ക് മാറ്റിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്, സൈബീരിയൻ ത്രഷ്, ആഫ്രിക്കൻ സ്പീഷിസുകൾ എന്നിവ ഇപ്പോൾ Geokichla എന്ന ജനുസ്സിലാണ് ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നത്.
