ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ ന്യൂറോ സർജനാണ് എ. മാർത്താണ്ഡ പിള്ള - എം‌എസ് (ന്യൂറോ), എം‌എൻ‌എം‌എസ് (ന്യൂറോ), എഫ്‌ആർ‌സി‌എസ്. [1] 2011 ൽ വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിനുള്ള പത്മശ്രീ അവാർഡിന് അർഹനായി. കേരള സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ഇന്ത്യൻ മെഡിക്കൽ അസോസിയേഷന്റെ ഈ അവാർഡ് ലഭിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ ദേശീയ പ്രസിഡന്റും മുൻ ദേശീയ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റും ആണ് അദ്ദേഹം.[2] ഐ.എം.എയ്ക്കുള്ള ദേശീയ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മീഷൻ ബില്ലിനെതിരെ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതിഷേധത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി. സ്വകാര്യമേഖലയിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ അനന്തപുരി ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽസ് & റിസർച്ച് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിന്റെ മാനേജിംഗ് ഡയറക്ടറാണ്.
