ഇന്ത്യൻ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഗോൾ കീപ്പറായിരുന്നു ശങ്കരൻ സുബ്രമണ്യൻ നാരായണൻ എന്ന എസ്.എസ്.നാരായണൻ[2] .ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ എസ് എസ്“ബാബു” നാരായണൻ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.ഇദ്ദേഹം ടാറ്റ എസി സി ക്ക് വേണ്ടി കളിച്ചിരുന്നു[3].1970ൽ ഇദ്ദേഹം വിരമിച്ചു.ഇദ്ദേഹം രണ്ട് തവണ ഇന്ത്യക്കായി ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഗോൾ വല കാത്തു.1956ലും 1960ലെ ഓളിമ്പിക്സിലും[4] .ഫുട്ബോളിനെ കൂടാതെ ഇദ്ദേഹം ബാസ്ക്കറ്റ്ബോൾ കളിയും നന്നായി കളിച്ചിരുന്നു[1].ഇന്ത്യൻ ഫുട്ബോളിനു നൽകിയ സംഭാവനയെ പരിഗണിച്ച് മുംബൈ ജില്ല ഫുട്ബോൾ അസ്സോസിയേഷൻ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ 2013ൽ അദരിച്ചിരുന്നു[5].
