സുധീറിന് സ്വാഗതം. ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് Talk page-ൽ ഞാൻ എഴുതിയതു ദയവായി കാണുക. മലയാളം വിക്കിപീടിയയിൽ ലേഖനങ്ങൾ ചേർക്കുംപൊൾ കഴിയുന്നതും വരമൊഴി തരുന്നതു അതുപോലെ ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുക. കാരണം ഇപ്പോഴുള്ള മിക്കവാറും ബ്രൌസറുകളിൽ സ്ക്രീനിൽ കാണുന്നതു യുണീക്കോഡിൻറ്‍റെ ശരിയായ വിവർത്തനമല്ല. അതിനാൽ സ്ക്രീനിൽ കാണുന്ന പല അക്ഷര "തെറ്‍റുകളും" ബ്രൌസർ, ഫോണ്ട്, ഓപെറേറ്‍റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്‍റം എന്നിവയിൽ ഒന്നിൻറ്‍റെ തെറ്‍റായിരിക്കു,. വരമൊഴിയിലും ചില തെറ്‍റുകൾ കടന്നു കൂടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്, അതിനാൽ കഴിയുന്നതും വരമൊഴിയിൽ എഴുതിയ ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് ലേഖനവും സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുക. ഇതു വെറും താൽകാലികമായ ഒരു കരുതൽ മാത്രമാണു. യുണീക്കോഡിൻറ്‍റെ പുതിയ പതിപ്പിൽ മലയാളത്തിന് വേണ്ടി കൂടുതൽ നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ അടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ടുന്നു അറിയുന്നു. പുതിയ പതിപ്പു (വേർഷൻ ൪.൦) അധികം താമസമില്ലാതെ തന്നെ പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തും. അപ്പൊൾ വരമൊഴിയും ആ നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു തുടങ്ങും എന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.
PS: The front page and the title of the article on Basheer have INCORRECT Unicode which is why many of the chillaksharams there are rendered correctly in Windows with InternetExplorer and Thoolika font. I made these "corrections" when I discovered the Thoolika font and found out how I can get proper chill~ rendering. Later I found out that the "corrections" I made were in fact wrong under the Unicode standard. I haven't reverted these since it doesn't make much sense to do that till we have a setup where things work well. But when adding new articles, please try to stick to Varamozhi output which is often correct Unicode though it renders incorrectly in our setup. There are still some outstanding issues in Unicode which we hope will soon be standardized. That's why keeping the Varamozhi Malayalam-in-English text is important for the time being. I'm thinking of starting a page in yahoo groups where such files can be stored temporarily. Please let me know what you think of this idea.

To create a new link with a Malayalam title (in fact, we are supposed to have only Malayalam titles), the easiest method is to add an empty link from another page, say the main page: like so [[വരമൊഴി]] (which would appear in the page as a link, like so വരമൊഴി). Now open the page where you added the link and follow the newly made link. This will take you to the edit window where you can add material. Read How to start a page from English Wikipedia to learn more. I've taken care of the title of the വിക്കി article you created. Looking forward to more.
Ps: Cibu updated Varamozhi yesterday with a Unicode bug fix. [It was about the incorrect coding of mpa as m_pa]. Please download the updated varamozhi. This might show up incorrectly in Thoolika. This is a problem with the font. I've contacted Supersoft and they are now aware of the problem. If you suspect you have found any other bugs in Varamozhi in the way it encodes Unicode, do let me know. I can check whether it's a problem with Varamozhi or the font and let the appropriate person know. Currently known problems are
- Problems with chill~. [this is a font problem]
- Problem with mpa. [was a Varamozhi and font problem, now the problem's only with the font]

I saw your message after I posted mine. I assume that the new member in the yahoogroup is you. Sorry for the confusion. You are right about the difficulty in explaining computer/internet ideas in our language. I guess words are getting inducted from English or getting created to express these new ideas. [vivarasangketika vidya for eg., though i'm not a big fan of that word]. But our language is as good as any other in expressing the more conventional ideas. Let's continue this discussion on the mailing list. And I think the more common spelling for computer is കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറ്‍ (of course this doesn't look good under our setup because of a problem with the font, when that is fixed this will render as കന്പ്യൂട്ടര്‌). I think you might be getting the wrong unicode coding with the anuswaram, in spite of things looking proper in the Varamozhi window because of a bug in Varamozhi. As I said earlier, a version of Varamozhi with this bug fixed is now available at the usual place. ~വിനോദ് 20 May, 2003
A page on how to contribute is a good idea. I'll try to put one together mostly using material I've sent you and some extra stuff by the weekend. I was holding back on this since Varamozhi and Unicode rendering are not mature enough. Things have improved in the past couple of montha with the release of Thoolika fonts. I think it's the right time to go public with this. There remain a few teething troubles in Varamozhi's Unicode support which we can help Cibu iron out. ~വിനോദ് 21 May, 2003

ജീവികളെ സംബന്ധിക്കുന്ന, ‘ജൈവീകം’ എന്നോ മറ്റോ ഒരു പുതിയ വിഷയസൂചിക ആരംഭിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. അതിനായി MlCategoryTOC എന്ന ഫലകം ഉപയോഗിക്കാമോ? ഉള്ളടക്കത്തിൽ മാത്രമേ ആ ഫലകം ചേർത്തിട്ടുള്ളു. എല്ലാത്തരം വിഷയസൂചികകളും ഉള്ളടക്കത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതല്ലേനല്ലത്? ‘മലയാള സിനിമ’ എന്ന വിഷയസൂചിക ഇപ്പോൾ നേരിട്ട് access സാധിക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ. ഉള്ളടക്കം വിഷയസൂചികയുടെ ഉപതാളായി മറ്റു വിഷയസൂചികകൾ മാറ്റത്തില്ലേ? വിഷയസൂചിക[തിരുത്തുക]
ഏതിങ്കിലും ഒരു ലേഖനം വിഷയസൂചികയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ അതായത് കാറ്റഗറിയിൽ മാത്രം ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയാൽ മതിയോ..?
ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് , നോബൽ സമ്മാനം എന്ന ലേഖനം എടുക്കുക. അത് വേണമെങ്കിൽ “പുരസ്കാരം ” എന്ന ഒരു കാറ്റഗറി ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിൽ മാത്രം ഉൾപ്പെടുത്താം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ , “ഉളളടക്കം | അന്താരാഷ്ട്രം | പുരസ്കാരം” ഇങ്ങനെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്താം . ഇതിൽ ഏതാണ് രീതിയാണ് നല്ലത് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വിക്കിപീഡിയയിൽ പാലിച്ചുവരുന്ന രീതി ഏതാണ്. ദയവായി സഹയിക്കുക

ഐ.പി, യൂസർ നെയിം ബ്ലൊക്കിങ്ങുകളല്ലാതെ അഡ്മിൻ പരിധിൽ മറ്റൊന്നുമില്ല സുധീറേ. റബ്ബർഷീറ്റുകാരുടെ കാര്യം മീറ്റാവിക്കിയിൽ പറഞ്ഞ് മറ്റെന്തെങ്കിലും മാർഗങ്ങൾ ആരായാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്തു ചെയ്യാം, ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക് നല്ല ബുദ്ധിതോന്നണം എന്നാഗ്രഹിക്കാം. അത്രതന്നെ.
