ജീവിതരേഖ
[തിരുത്തുക]1947 മുതൽ 1949 വരെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ധനകാര്യമന്ത്രി എന്ന പദവിയിൽ ഇരുന്ന സർ ആർ കെ ഷണ്മുഖം ചെട്ടി തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ കോയമ്പത്തൂരിൽ ജനിച്ചു. മദ്രാസ് ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ കോളേജിലും മദ്രാസ് ലോ കോളേജിലുമായി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടി. ഇൻഡ്യൻ നാഷണലിസ്റ്റ് സ്വരാജ് പാർട്ടിയിലും ബ്രിട്ടിഷ് അനുകൂലമായിരുന്ന ജസ്റ്റിസ് പാർട്ടിയിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ച് രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലെത്തി.
1935 മുതൽ 1941 വരെ കൊച്ചി നാട്ടുരാജ്യത്തിലെ ദിവാൻ ആയിരുന്നു. കൊച്ചി തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ ഉന്നതിക്കു വേണ്ടി അക്കാലത്ത് പരിശ്രമിച്ചു. കൊച്ചിയെ അറബിക്കടലിന്റെ റാണി എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത് സർ ആർ കെ ഷണ്മുഖം ചെട്ടി ആയിരുന്നു.
