മാക് ഒഎസ്, ലിനക്സ്, മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ് വിൻഡോസ്[5][6] എന്നിവയ്ക്കായുള്ള പ്ലഗിൻന്റെ പിന്തുണയോടെ നോഡ്.ജെഎസിൽ എഴുതി ഗിറ്റ്ഹബ്ബ് വികസിപ്പിച്ചെടുത്ത ഗിറ്റ് നിയന്ത്രണത്തോടുകൂടിയ ഒരു സൗജന്യ ഓപ്പൺ സോഴ്‌സ് ടെക്സ്റ്റ്, സോഴ്‌സ് കോഡ് എഡിറ്ററാണ് ആറ്റം. വെബ് സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിർമ്മിച്ച ഡെസ്ക്ടോപ്പ് ആപ്ലിക്കേഷനാണ് ആറ്റം. [7] വിപുലീകരിക്കുന്ന മിക്ക പാക്കേജുകളിലും സൗജന്യ സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വേർ ലൈസൻസുകളുണ്ട്, മാത്രമല്ല അവ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും പരിപാലിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. [8] ക്രോമിയം, നോഡ്.ജെഎസ് എന്നിവ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ക്രോസ്-പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോം ഡെസ്ക്ടോപ്പ് ആപ്ലിക്കേഷനുകൾ പ്രാപ്തമാക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചട്ടക്കൂടായ ഇലക്ട്രോൺ (മുമ്പ് ആറ്റം ഷെൽ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു) ആറ്റം അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ളതാണ്.[9][10] ഇത് കോഫീസ്ക്രിപ്റ്റിലും ലെസ്സ് ഭാഷയിലും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
ആറ്റം ബീറ്റയിൽ നിന്ന് പതിപ്പ് 1.0 ആയി 2015 ജൂൺ 25 ന് പുറത്തിറക്കി. അതിന്റെ ഡവലപ്പർമാർ ഇതിനെ "ഇരുപത്തിയൊന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ഹാക്കുചെയ്യാവുന്ന ടെക്സ്റ്റ് എഡിറ്റർ" എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. എച്.ടി.എം.എൽ., സി‌എസ്‌എസ്, ജാവാസ്ക്രിപ്റ്റ് എന്നിവയിൽ ഇത് പൂർണ്ണമായും ഇച്ഛാനുസൃതമാക്കാനാകും.[11]

2018 ഡിസംബറിൽ ഇതിന്റെ മുഖഛായ 'മാറുന്നതുവരെ' ഇത് ഇന്റഗ്രേറ്റഡ് ഡെവലപ്മെന്റ് എൺവയൺമെന്റ് (IDE) ആയി ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു.[12]
പാക്കേജുകൾ[തിരുത്തുക]
ക്രമീകരിക്കാവുന്ന മറ്റ് ടെക്സ്റ്റ് എഡിറ്റർമാരെ പോലെ, എഡിറ്ററിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകളും രൂപങ്ങളും ഇഷ്ടാനുസൃതമാക്കുന്നതിന് മൂന്നാം കക്ഷി പാക്കേജുകളും തീമുകളും ഇൻസ്റ്റാൾ ചെയ്യാൻ ആറ്റം ഉപയോക്താക്കളെ പ്രാപ്തമാക്കുന്നു. ആറ്റത്തിന്റെ പാക്കേജ് മാനേജർ എപിഎം വഴി പാക്കേജുകൾ ഇൻസ്റ്റാൾ ചെയ്യാനും കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാനും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാനും കഴിയും.
