അറ്റ്വാട്ടർ, അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ കാലിഫോർണിയ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ മെർസ്‍ഡ് കൗണ്ടിയിൽ, സ്റ്റേറ്റ് റൂട്ട് 99 ൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു നഗരമാണ്. മെർസ്‍ഡിന് 8 മൈൽ (13 കിലോമീറ്റർ) വടക്ക്, വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായി,[7] സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽനിന്ന് 151 അടി (46 മീറ്റർ)[8] ഉയരത്തിലാണ് അറ്റ്വാട്ടർ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. 2010 ലെ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം ഈ നഗരത്തിലെ ആകെ ജനസംഖ്യ 28,168 ആയിരുന്നു.

ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ സെൻസസ് ബ്യൂറോയുടെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച്, നഗരത്തിന്റെ ആകെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം 6.1 ചതുരശ്ര മൈൽ (16 കി.മീ2) ആണ്. ഇതിൽ 99.86 ശതമാനം പ്രദേശം കര ഭൂമിയും ബാക്കിയുള്ള 0.14 ശതമാനം ഭാഗം വെള്ളവുമാണ്. കാസിൽ എയർ മ്യൂസിയം നഗരത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു, എന്നാൽ കാസിൽ എയർ ഫോഴ്സ് ബെയിസ് നഗരത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നില്ല.
ചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]
1870 കളിൽ റെയിൽവേ സൌകര്യം അറ്റ്‍വാട്ടറിൽ എത്തിയതോടെ, പട്ടണം വളർന്നു തുടങ്ങി.[7] 1880 ൽ ആദ്യ പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസ് ഇവിടെ തുറന്നു.[7] 1922 ൽ നഗരം ഏകീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[7]
റെയിൽവേ അതിൻറെ സ്റ്റേഷൻ നിർമ്മാണത്തിനായി ഉപയോഗിച്ച് സ്ഥലം മാർഷൽ ഡി. അറ്റ്വാട്ടർ എന്ന ഒരു ഗോതമ്പ് കൃഷിക്കാരൻറേതായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഈ പേരാണ് നഗരത്തിൻറെ നാമത്തിന് ആധാരമാക്കിയത്.[7]
