ആന്ദ്രിബിഡേ കുടുംബത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരിനം വണ്ടുകളാണ് അടയ്ക്കാ വണ്ട് (Coffee Bean Weevil).
വിവരണം
[തിരുത്തുക]ഇവയ്ക്ക് ഏതാണ്ട് 3–5 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ നീളമുണ്ടാവും.[3] ചാരനിറം കലർന്ന ഈ വണ്ടുകൾ കാപ്പിക്കുരു, കൊക്കോ തുടങ്ങിയവയെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നവയാണ്. ശേഖരിച്ചുവചിരിക്കുന്ന വിളകളെയാണ് ഇവ സാധാരണ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നത്. ഇവയുടെ ലാർവകൾ വിത്തുകളുടെ ഉള്ളിലേക്ക് ദ്വാരങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിനുള്ളിൽ പ്യൂപ്പയായി മാറുന്നു. വളർച്ചയെത്തിയ കീടങ്ങൾ വിത്തിനു ദ്വാരമുണ്ടാക്കി പുറത്തേക്കു വരുന്നു.[4]
