ആസ്റ്ററേസീ സസ്യകുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു ജനുസാണ് അക്മെല്ല (Acmella). [4][5] 1807 -ലാണ് ഇതിനെ ഒരു ജനുസായി വിവരിച്ചത്.[6][3] അമേരിക്കകളിലെ തദ്ദേശവാസിയായ ഈ ജനുസ് ഏഷ്യ, ആഫ്രിക്ക, പസഫിക് ദ്വീപുകൾ, ആസ്ത്രേലിയ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം എത്തിപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
