ഒരു സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര സേനാനി ആയിരുന്നു. ഉധം സിങ് (Udham Singh ). (പഞ്ചാബി: ਉਧਮ ਸਿੰਘ, Hindi: उधम सिंह्; ഡിസംബർ 26, 1899ജൂലൈ 31, 1940). അദ്ദേഹം ജനിച്ചത് ജമ്മുവിൽ ആണ്. ജനനനാമം ശേർ സിംഗ് എന്നായിരുന്നു.[1][2] 1919 ലെ ജാലിയൻവാലാബാഗ് കൂട്ടക്കൊലയ്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകിയ മൈക്കിൾ ഓ’ഡ്വിയറിനെ മാർച്ച് 1940-നു കൊലപ്പെടുത്തിയപേരിൽ ഇദ്ദേഹം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.[3]

രാം മൊഹമ്മദ് സിംഗ് ആസാദ് എന്ന പേരിലും ഇദ്ദേഹം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. മതേതരത്തെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പേരാണ് ഇത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സമയത്തെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര സേനാനികളായിരുന്ന ചന്ദ്രശേഖർ ആസാദ്, രാജ് ഗുരു,ഭഗത് സിങ് , സുഖ് ദേവ് എന്നിവരുടെ പോലെ തന്നെ ഒരു യുവനേതാക്കളിൽ ഒരാളായിരുന്നു ഉധം സിംഗ്.[4]

1899 ഡിസംബർ 26 ന് പഞ്ചാബിലെ സംഗ്രൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ സുനാമിൽ ഒരു പഞ്ചാബി കംബോജ് സിഖ് കർഷക കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉദം സിംഗ് ജനിച്ചു. ചെറുപ്പത്തിലെ അമ്മ മരണപ്പെട്ടു. കുറച്ചു വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു ശേഷം അച്ചനും മരണമടഞ്ഞു.[5][6] ജമ്മു ഗോത്രയിലെ (ഉപജാതി) കംബോജ് കുടുംബത്തിൽ പെട്ടയാളായിരുന്നു ഉധം സിങ്. ചരിത്രപരമായ രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വം വരിച്ചതിലൂടെ ഉധം കാംബോജുകളുടെ ധീര ക്ഷത്രിയ പാരമ്പര്യം ഉയർത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചു.[7][8][9][10][11] പിതാവിന്റെ മരണശേഷം ഉധമിനെയും ജ്യേഷ്ഠൻ മുക്ത സിങ്ങിനെയും അമൃത്‌സറിലെ സെൻട്രൽ ഖൽസ ഓർഫനേജ് ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. അനാഥാലയത്തിൽ വെച്ചാണ് ഉധം സിംഗ് എന്ന പേര് സ്വീകരിച്ചത്. 1918-ൽ മെട്രിക്കുലേഷൻ പരീക്ഷ പാസായ അദ്ദേഹം 1919-ൽ അനാഥാലയം വിട്ടു.
