ദേശാടന സ്വഭാവമുള്ള ഒരു ശലഭമാണ് വരയൻ കടുവ(Striped Tiger). നിംഫാലിഡേ കുടുംബത്തിൽ പെടുന്ന ഈ ഇനം ശലഭങ്ങളെ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ സുലഭമായി കാണാവുന്നതാണ്. എരിക്കുതപ്പി എന്ന ശലഭത്തോട് വളരെയധികം സാമ്യം ഇവയ്ക്കുണ്ട്. Asclepias curassavica , Stephanotis എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന ആഹാര സസ്യങ്ങൾ.
