ആമസോൺ മഴക്കാടുകളിൽ വസിക്കുന്ന ജനവിഭാഗമാണ് യാനോമാമി - Yanomami. ഏകദേശം 15 ലക്ഷത്തോളം മനുഷ്യർ ഇവിടെ വസിക്കുന്നു. വിശാലവും വിസ്തൃതവുമായ വൃത്താകൃതിയിലുള്ള വാസകേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ വനത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ചാണ് ഇവർ വസിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ വസതികൾ യാനോസ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. വനം വെട്ടിത്തെളിച്ച് നിർമ്മിക്കുന്ന വാസസ്ഥലത്ത് 20 കുടുംബങ്ങൾ വരെ ഒരുമിച്ചു പാർക്കുന്നു.
