മില്ലറ്റ്
ഭക്ഷ്യാവശ്യങ്ങൾക്കായി കൃഷിചെയ്യുന്ന ധാന്യവിളകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നവയാണ് മില്ലെറ്റുകളും (ചെറുധാന്യങ്ങൾ) സിറിയലുകളും (cereals).
മില്ലറ്റുകൾ ഏഷ്യയിലേയും ആഫ്രിക്കയിലേയും (പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും ഇന്ത്യ, മാലി, നൈജീരിയ, നൈജർ എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ) പാടങ്ങളിൽ വളരെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട വിളകളാണ്. വികസ്വര രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ ആണ് മില്ലറ്റ് ഉല്പാദനത്തിന്റെ 97%നടക്കുന്നത് . വരണ്ടതും ഉയർന്ന താപനിലയെയും അതിജീവിച്ച മികച്ച വിളവ് നൽകാൻ മിലൈറ്റുകൾക് ആകും .[1]

2021 മാർച്ച് 3-ന് പൊതുസഭ അംഗീകരിച്ച പ്രമേയത്തിലൂടെ ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭ 2023 ചെറുധാന്യങ്ങളുടെ വർഷമായി ആചരിക്കുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[2]
