ഭൂഗർഭ ഉറവകളിൽ മാത്രം കണ്ടു വരുന്ന ഒരു മുഷി കുടുംബത്തിൽ പെട്ട മത്സ്യം ആണ് മിഡു .[2] ഇന്ന് വരെ കണ്ടെതിയിടുള്ള ഒരു മുഷി കുടുംബവുമായും ഇവയ്ക്കു ബന്ധമില്ല. ഇവ ഏകദേശം 5.9 സെ.മീ. നീളം വെയ്ക്കുന്നു[3]. കേരളത്തിൽ മാത്രം കാണുന്ന ശുദ്ധജല മത്സ്യം ആണ് ഇവ. തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ചാലക്കുടിയിൽ നിന്നുമാണ് ഇവയെ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്[4].
