തെക്കുകിഴക്കേ ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഒരു ദ്വീപുരാഷ്ട്രമാണ് ഫിലിപ്പീന്സ് (ഫിലിപ്പീനോ ഭാഷ: പിലിപ്പിനാസ്), ഔദ്യോഗിക നാമം: റിപ്പബ്ലിക്ക് ഓഫ് ദ് ഫിലിപ്പീന്സ് (Republika ng Pilipinas; RP). മനില ആണ് ഫിലിപ്പീന്സിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനം. പശ്ചിമ ശാന്തസമുദ്രത്തിലെ 7,107 ദ്വീപുകള് ചേര്ന്നതാണ് ഫിലിപ്പീന്സ്. വിവിധ ദ്വീപുകളിലായി വിവിധ തദ്ദേശീയ ആസ്ത്രൊനേഷ്യന് സംസ്കാരങ്ങളും സ്പെയിന്, ലാറ്റിന് അമേരിക്ക, യു.എസ്.എ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില് നിന്നുള്ള സ്വാധീനവും ഫിലിപ്പീന്സ് പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
ഫിലിപ്പിനോകള് പ്രധാനമായും ആസ്ത്രൊനേഷ്യന് തായ്വഴിയില് ഉള്ളവരാണ്. ചില ഫിലിപ്പിനോകള് സ്പാനിഷ്, ചൈനീസ്, അറബ് തായ്വഴികളില് നിന്നാണ്. [7]
മുന്പ് സ്പെയിനിന്റെയും യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സിന്റെയും കോളനി ആയിരുന ഫിലിപ്പീന്സിനു മൂന്നു ശതാബ്ദം നീണ്ട സ്പാനിഷ് ഭരണം കാരണം പാശ്ചാത്യ ലോകവുമായി, പ്രധാനമായും സ്പെയിനും ലാറ്റിന് അമേരിക്കയുമായി, പല സാമ്യങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്. റോമന് കത്തോലിക്കാ മതം ആണ് പ്രധാന മതം. 1987-ലെ ഭരണഘടന അനുസരിച്ച് ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷകള് ഫിലിപ്പിനോ ഭാഷയും ഇംഗ്ലീഷും ആണ്.
