കരിവാലൻ പുൽക്കുരുവിയുടെ[2] [3][4][5] ആംഗലത്തിലെ പേര് Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler എന്നാണ്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Locustella certhiola എന്നതാണ്. പീറ്റർ സൈമൺ പല്ലാസ് എന്ന ജർമ്മൻ ജന്തുശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്റെ പേരിനോട് ചെർന്നാണ് ഈ പക്ഷിയുടെ പേര്.
വിതരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
കിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യയിലാണ് കാണാപ്പെടുന്നത്. തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് ഇന്ത്യ മുതൽ കിഴക്ക് ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ വരെയുള്ള ഭാഗത്തേക്ക് ദേശാടാനം നടത്തുന്നു.

വെള്ളത്തിനോട് അടുത്തുള്ള പുല്പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലൊ തിങ്ങിനിറഞ്ഞ പച്ചപ്പുള്ളിടത്തൊ ഇവയെ സാധാരണ കാണുന്നത്. നിലത്ത് പുല്ലികൾക്കിടയിലാണ് കൂടുണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്. 4-7 മുട്ടകളിടും.
വരകളുള്ള തവിട്ടു നിറത്തിലുള്ള പുറകുവശം, വെള്ള കലർന്ന വരകളില്ലാത്ത വാലൊഴികെയുള്ള അടിവശം. പുവ്വനും പിടയും കാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് ഒരേ പോലെയാണ്. ഇവയെ കാണുക എളുപ്പമല്ല. എപ്പോഴും ചെടികൾക്കൂള്ളിലായിരിക്കും.

പ്രാണികളാണ് പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം.
