ചരിത്രം

തായ്‌വാനും ചൈനയും തമ്മിലുള്ള തർക്കത്തിന് വർഷങ്ങൾ പഴക്കമുണ്ട്. 1949 ഒക്ടോബർ 1-നാണ് വിപ്ലവം ജയിച്ച് ചൈന നിലവിൽ വന്നത്. അക്കാലത്ത് മാവോ സേതൂങ് വിപ്‌ളവം ജയിച്ച് ജനകീയ ചൈനയെ റിപ്പബ്ലിക് ആയി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. അന്ന് പരാജിതനായ ചിയാങ് കയ് ഷെക് തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തോടൊപ്പം തായ്‌വാൻ ദ്വീപിലേക്ക് പലായനം ചെയ്തു. തുടർന്ന് തായ്‌പെയ് തലസ്ഥാനമാക്കി ഭരണമാരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. തായ്‌വാനാണ് യഥാർഥ ചൈന റിപ്പബ്ലിക് എന്ന് ചിയാങ് അവകാശപ്പെടുകയും കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് വിരുദ്ധരായ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ ഇത് അംഗീകരിച്ചു കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്തു. അങ്ങനെ തായ്‌വാന്റെ റിപ്പബ്ലിക് ഓഫ് ചൈന എന്ന നാമം ഇന്നും തുടരുന്നു. തായ്‌വാൻ ഒരു രാജ്യമായി ഇന്നും അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല.

പ്രത്യേകതകൾ

തായ്‌പേയ്101 എന്ന 101 നിലകളുള്ള കെട്ടിടം മുൻപ് ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ കെട്ടിടമായിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യാ-തായ്‌പേയി അസോസിയേഷൻ എന്നാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ ഇന്ത്യൻ എംബസി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. തായ്‌വാൻ പ്രത്യേക രാജ്യമായി യു.എൻ. അംഗീകാരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതിനാലാണ് എംബസി ഈ പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ലോങ്ഷാൻ ടെമ്പിൾ ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്.
