ചെറു കീടങ്ങളെ ആകർഷിച്ച് കുടുക്കിലകപ്പെടുത്തി ആഹാരമാക്കാനുള്ള ഘടനാ വിശേഷങ്ങളോടു കൂടിയ സസ്യങ്ങളെയാണ് കീടഭോജിസസ്യങ്ങൾ (insectivorous plants) എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നത്.ചാൾസ് ഡാർവിനാണ് ആദ്യമായി ഇത്തരം സസ്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് വിപുലമായ പഠനങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയത്. 1875 -ൽ ഇൻസെക്ടിവോറസ് പ്ലാന്റ്സ് എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ഈ വിഷയത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രീയമായ ഒരു കാഴ്ചപ്പാട് ഉണ്ടായത്.[1]
