അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ നാവികസേനയ്ക്കായി നിർമ്മിച്ച ഇരട്ട എഞ്ചിനുള്ള സൂപ്പർസോണിക് യുദ്ധവിമാനമാണ് എഫ് 14 ടോംകാറ്റ്. സുഗമമായ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന് രണ്ട് വൈമാനികർ ആവശ്യമുള്ള ഈ വിമാനത്തിന്റെ ചിറകുകളുടെ ആകൃതി ക്രമീകരിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. വിയറ്റ്നാം യുദ്ധ കാലത്ത് സോവിയറ്റ് നിർമ്മിത മിഗ് വിമാനങ്ങളോട് പോരാടാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ള വിധത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട വിമാനമാണിത്.
1970-ൽ ആദ്യ പറക്കൽ നടത്തിയ ഈ വിമാനം, 1974-ൽ എഫ് 4 ഫാന്റം III വിമാനങ്ങൾക്കു പകരമായി ആദ്യം വിന്യസിച്ചു. 1990-കളിൽ പുതിയ ശേഷികൾ ചേർത്ത വിമാനം 2006 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 22-നു നാവികസേനയിലെ സേവനം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു. ഇന്ന് ഇറാൻ മാത്രമേ എഫ് 14 സൈനികാവശ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുള്ളു.
