ഭൂമിയുടെ വടക്കൻ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്ന പറക്കാൻ കഴിവുള്ള പക്ഷികളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതാണ് ആൻഡിയൻ കോണ്ടൂർ. കഴുകൻ വംശത്തിലെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒരിനമാണിത്. മാനിന്റേയും കന്ന്കാലികളുടേയും അഴുകിയ ശവശരീരമാണ് ഇവയുടെ പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം. 50 വയസുവരെ ഇവ ജീവിക്കാറുണ്ട്. അർജന്റീന, ബൊളീവിയ, ചിലി, കൊളംബിയ, ഇക്വഡോർ, പെറു തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ദേശീയ ചിഹ്നം കൂടിയയായ ഈ കഴുകൻ ഇപ്പോൾ വംശനാശ ഭീഷണിയിലാണ്.
