ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ ഒരു സംസ്ഥാനമായ ദക്ഷിണ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവുമാണ് അഡിലെയ്ഡ് (Adelaide ) അഡിലെയ്‌ഡിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 12.8 ഏകദേശം ലക്ഷത്തോളമാണ്.[3]
ഒരു തീരപ്രദേശനഗരമായ അഡിലെയ്ഡ് സെയ്ന്റ് വിൻസെന്റ് ഉൾക്കടലിന്റെ കിഴക്കൻ തീരത്തായി മൗണ്ട് ലോഫ്റ്റി കുന്നുകൾക്കും സെയ്ന്റ് വിൻസെന്റ് ഉൾക്കടലിനിടയിലുമായി അഡിലെയ്ഡ് സമതലത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
1836-ൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ നഗരത്തിന് വില്ല്യം IV രാജാവിന്റെ പത്നിയായിരുന്ന അഡിലെയ്ഡ് രാജ്ഞിയുടെ ബഹുമാനാർത്ഥമാണ് അഡിലെയ്ഡ് എന്ന പേർ നൽകപ്പെട്ടത്. [4] നഗരസ്ഥാപകരിലൊരാളായ കേണൽ വില്ല്യം റൈറ്റ് ഈ നഗരം ഗൊർണ ആദിമനിവാസികൾ വസിച്ചിരുന്ന ടോറൻസ് നദിക്കരിയിലായി രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്തു. ഗ്രിഡ് രൂപത്തിൽ അഡിലെയ്ഡ് പാർക്കുകൾ ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട രീതിയിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഈ നഗരം നിർമ്മിച്ചത്.
